Little Explorers Mission
At Little Explorers we are working hard to do our bit for the environment. We know how important the Early Years is in educating and influencing Children and therefore use this opportunity to develop Children's awareness in looking after our planet and doing their bit for the environment. Children at Little Explorers are encouraged to recycle, reuse and collect natural resources which can support areas of their play such as junk modelling.
A few changes we have made at Little Explorers

-
Reusable cloths to clean hands and faces.
-
Bagless with our food shop.
-
Purchased a large quantity of white boards for drawings and doodles to reduce paper waste.
-
We no longer use plastic straws for arts and craft activities.
-
Invested in biodegradable glitter.
-
Using our recycled items for junk modelling activities.
-
Investing in more natural resources for our play and moving away from plastic toys.
-
Reducing the amount of documents we print and moving to online forms.
-
Children help organise recycling teaching them how they can also contribute towards the environment.
-
Where plastic is required we are moving away from PVC and investing in polypropylene resources which are more environmentally friendly. It’s recyclable and doesn’t release as many toxins as plastics such as PVC . It also breaks down more quickly, taking just 20-30 years compared to over 500 years for some other plastics.
-
We use Biodegradable, Melamine free Children's dinnerware.
-
We have invested in eco friendly heating.

Although we know there is much more we can do these are the small changes we have made towards our long term goal of becoming a more environmentally friendly setting.
